LIH Olivia's Place History
Olivia was born in Shanghai in 2007 to American parents, Nelson and Quynh Chow.
After finding that Olivia was born with Down Syndrome, her parents Nelson and Quynh, searched and searched but couldn’t find high quality pediatric therapy anywhere in Shanghai (2008 to 2010).
Olivia’s parents contacted professors and experts in the United States for advice. With help from them, Olivia’s parents set up a pediatric therapy consulting service called Olivia’s Place. They recruited 4 foreign therapists to work with them (2010).
After opening Olivia’s Place, they helped many foreign and local families in Shanghai. The center started to grow busier and busier and the company began recruiting more and more therapists (2010).
Olivia’s parents had known Elliot’s mother since 2008. In 2010 Eliott, who has cerebral palsy, and his family were living in Beijing. Olivia’s parents asked if Eliott’s mom would like to help set up a similar center in Beijing. Elliot’s mother agreed and Elliot’s Corner (a subsidiary of Shanghai Olivia’s Place) was founded with 3 therapists (2011).
In 2012, Olivia’s Place had 15 therapists in China. It won international recognition as Honorable Mention in the 2012 ADVANCE worldwide Practice of the Year Contest.
In 2013, Olivia’s Place had over 25 therapists in China and started to provide services in Tianjin and Nanjing. It began providing services to over 30 international schools in China.
In 2014, Olivia’s Place had over 35 therapists and started to provide services in Suzhou and Changzhou. It helped to bring 8 international professors and experts to join the Second Conference of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medical Association’s Education Section. The international experts gave suggestions to Chinese medical university faculty on education of rehabilitation doctors, nurses, and therapists.
In June 2015, LIH Healthcare merged with Shanghai Olivia’s Place and held a ceremony in Beijing LIH Olivia’s Place Pediatric Clinic, which the two companies built.
On September 6, 2015, Beijing LIH Olivia’s Place Pediatric Clinic passed the opening accreditation. Today, Beijing LIH Olivia’s Place has more than 30 medical experts and consultants from China and overseas.
On September 12, 2015 at the Beijing Swisshotel, Beijing LIH Olivia’s Place held a launch ceremony for our strategic cooperation with Children's Specialized Hospital of New Jersey, USA. CSH has a history of more than 120 years and is the largest individual pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the United States.
LIH Healthcare plans to invest and operate 5 clinics and 1 comprehensive rehabilitation hospital in China over the next 3 to 5 years and to become the leading rehabilitation medical operator in China in the next 5-10 years. LIH Healthcare is the parent company and has subsidiaries including Beijing LIH Olivia’s Place Pediatric Clinic and LIH International Rehabilitation Hospital.
